my line of this family name is of Scottish decent.

i don’t know why everyone just assumes it’s Irish. my grandad still has our clans original tartan. from our understanding it’s originally a Scottish name but part of the clan migrated to ireland and now has long roots there. then as you all probably know from ireland the name went to all different parts of the world.

It's most definitely NOT Mc-Q-In. I live in a town with another McKeon family, not related (still a possibility of them being distant, distant relatives), and they pronounce it as Mick-Koon. My family pronounces it Mick-Kee-un (the "un" is softly pronounced). I literally had aunts and uncles grilling me with the proper pronunciation since a young age. It's an Irish thing.
