My name is Aileen and I come from the North of Ireland, and I personally get annoyed when my name is pronounced as Eileen. If someone as an 'ailment' they don't pronounce that with an 'eye' sound so why would they in this case? I pronounce my name as it is written- ail-een. Think of 'fail' when the f is removed, or 'wail' when the w is removed. In my case it is also the 'ail' part of the name that is stressed, not the 'leen'.

In Scotland, Aileen is primarily classified as a first name. It is pronounced as
I am born and bred in Scotland and this Scottish name is mine. It is NOT pronounced the same as Eileen and nothing irritates me more than people who say it is. It is pronounced as it appears: ‘Ail’ rhyming with ‘tail’. And the stress is on the ‘Ail’ rather than the ‘leen’.
