Pronunciation of Yeargin in United States

In United States, Yeargin is primarily classified as a surname (last name). The American pronunciation, specifically in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, is

YER gin

The first syllable is pronounced exactly the same as the last syllable of the word 'lawyer'

The g in the second syllable is a hard g; the gi sounds the same as in the word 'gift'

Some further info: It is pronounced almost exactly like the German name Jurgen, from which it is derived, according to several of my family's sources. In Americanization the first syllable lost the drawn out sound of the umlaut in Jurgen, and became the flat 'yer'.

"Means 'son of George'. "North German (Jürgens) and Dutch: patronymic from the personal name Jürgen, a vernacular form of the Greek Christian name Geōrgios (see George).""
